The area is reached from M and contains a beach, bathhouse and picnic area on Lower Trout Lake and additional picnic tables, grills and shelters that can be rented on Upper Trout Lake. Bald Mountain also features a pair of bunk rustic cabins reached from Harmon Road in the north unit. The cabins, a short walk from the parking area, are within yards of each other in a wooded area overlooking Tamarack Lake. Nearby is the White Loop trail. The park is open year round and a vehicle permit or annual state park pass is required to enter.
Quiet Hours: 10pm-8am. The park is open for activities year round. Day use area is open from 8ampm or dusk. The park offers 8 miles of cross country skiing trails, 7 miles of snowmobile trails, and 15 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails. Visitors can choose from both lake and stream fishing and two universally accessible piers make fishing available for everyone.

The terrain has rapid elevation changes and can be challenging for hikers who are usually accustomed to level or crushed gravel terrain. Trails at Bald Mountain have reached peak color and keen-eyed hikers may spot autumn mushrooms, including edible giant puffballs and shaggy manes , along with toxic Amanita species amidst the fallen leaves. Unless you are a pro on fungi — leave all mushrooms alone. When taking to the trails, a bit of situational awareness is always in order too.
