Legal Nurse Consultant – Everything You Need to Know
Legal nurse consultants offer advice to attorneys, paralegals and legal experts regarding medically-related issues of the law. Legal nurse consultants screen new cases for merit, locate and interview medical experts, serve as a liaison between law firms, medical experts, and other parties, formulate medical-legal case theories, identify deviations from nursing standards of care, research medical literature, and coordinate independent medical examinations. Legal nurse consultants assist in analyzing medical records; interpreting the notes of physicians and nurses; and preparing medical record chronologies, charts, diagrams, and timelines. In addition to serving in a consulting role, legal nurse consultants also serve as expert witnesses, testifying at trials, depositions, hearings, and arbitrations and preparing expert witness reports for use at trial.
This program was designed to provide LNC's with the scope of experience and a mentoring relationship needed for advancement as an LNC. It involves an actual case evaluation, a multitude of tools, and activities to put into practice and grow a business. There is an additional cost for the coaching sessions from LNC Resource. The case is worked up from the plaintiff perspective, but coordinating defense reports are integrated to illustrate a contrast between what alternate clients desire and expect. There are activities designed to be completed in between each session and are submitted via email for review prior to the next scheduled session.
