Under this program, family members can receive payment for caring for elderly relatives in their homes. Instead of living in a nursing home or another institutional facility, elderly participants, including those with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias, move into a caregiver's home, or alternatively, have a caregiver move into their home. Sometimes, the caregivers have more than one elder in their home at the same time.
My father was a doctor, and I grew up watching him provide care to his many patients. My two brothers followed in his footsteps and are both doctors. Even though I did not follow on the same path, I am deeply passionate about providing excellent in-home care to seniors and adults with disabilities. Later on in his life, my father became a patient himself.
